"You go to Mexico to get away with most of the prejudices - and what do they play everywhere? Mariachi, Mariachi, Mariachi. Ahhhh."
As this was the last day for us in Mexico we didnt plan much, so we started it by doing nothing. We had to leave until 1300 and the first flight started late, around 2030h - enough time.
After checking out around 1245h we walked a bit through Mexico City, visiting some markets, bought some candies, got food in an expensive (for mexicans) restaurant, and got a taxi to the airport late afternoon, where we sat down in a restaurant only ordering 4 milk shakes, but they had wlan, so who cares.
That was also the place where I wrote all that usual postcards you normally sent from a vacation. As usual on the last day. They are still not in Germany (nearly 2 weeks later), but well, they will arrive - I hope. After check-in we went into the duty-free area, buying a bit of Tequila and some other crap to give to others at home... If I had known back then that I would have absolutely no customs control, really nothing, not even an officer standing around and looking angry, I would have bought much more to give it away... (It basically was no control in London - as I had a connection flight. And no control in Frankfurt as I arrived with a european flight only.)
The flight itself was very nice, as you can make a bed out of the flight-seats, so i could sleep very well and slept for most of the flight. That also seems to help with jetlag, as I had none.
I think that whole thing could have used much longer. How about next DebCamp is 5 months long, then DebConf with 5 months, followed by 2 months of time for people to travel around in that country, before they go to the next DebCamp? :)
Ok, not joking - Mexico was really worth the trip and time. I would only do a longer trip there next time. About 3 weeks or so.
