Visiting Monte Alban

After a long, recreating, night we went down to the Lobby of our hotel, to wait for our tour-guide. With a lot of sun lotion, water and a little breakfast it should get a good day.

DebConf again

After our tour-guide picked us up from the hotel and we arrived at this days place, Monte Alban, we found some other DebConf people: Christoph, Frans, Peter, Kurt, Tiago and Tassia. Looks like nearly everyone who was still in Mexico was in Oaxaca. And the plans for the next day were also the same.

The weather was very good - not as hot as we had it with the DebConf-Daytrip, so we had a very nice tour, combined with a very good tour guide. He did a great job explaining the history of Monte Alban, including things like the dancers, the acoustic on the big place, the ballplace, the tumba 7, the great view over Oaxaca and its military importance in the past, that some of the "holes" in those old buildings are just there because the archaeologists search for old buiildings covered by new ones, and generally made one of the best guided tours I can remember. Of course we got an information overflow after some time, but it was worth the big tip he got in the evening.

Evening plans

After the trip and some long siesta we tried to met the other people, but somehow we missed us. So we went to some restaurant, to get some food. Uhoh, bad, we should not have chosen to try what a Mexican restaurant with an italian sounding name ("Adolfo de Roma") thinks is a pizza. Not good.
